Defiant was a special two-seated fighter with a turret with 4 machine guns. At first it was successfull because enemy was used to attack from behind, and were easy target for that turret. Soon they learned Defiant's weak point: no armament forwards and soon Defian't losses increased dramatically. That's why it was withdrawn from day-operations and transferred to operate as night-fighters, in which role attacking enemy bombers it was quite efficient.
